I've had one fail on me in my '85 900. One day it got really hard to start, and just stopped running right. I ran all the known diagnostics and was totally pulling my hair out. I picked up a spare from Scanwest as a last ditch effort. Swapped it in, and all was right in the universe again.

I had problems with my 86 8v car. Replaced the box and it was fine. It took some outside help, or so I assume. The box was all rusty on the outside, and when I pulled it apart to look inside noticed everything was all corroded. I can only guess that it must have gotten wet and potentially sat in water at some point.

I had one fail so I upgraded it with a higher performance version:

Ok next step in my build. I need a part number for the bosal tailpipe for my turbo. I bought a pipe but it turns out is for the NA not turbo. It simply won't fit at all. Before anyone tries to tell me my performance will suffer, I am installing a cutout before the muffler. I need it quiet on long trips to events but the power of open exhaust when I'm racing.

Skandix carried them for a while I think, their website is all screwy right now though.

You might have to use one from a 900T. Are you still using the original "T" shaped muffler?

When I got the car it had no exhaust after the intermediate pipe. What I bought was 99 parts so yes the "T" muffler is waiting to go on.

This is where I'm heading component wise...

Suspension:
Springs tru coil 5.5" front springs 550# rear 650#
Shocks Bilstein revalved by previous owner and stiff
Saab performance group adjustable 99 series rear bar 1 1/4"
(Held as option) saab performance group front bar 18mm

What free length springs did you get front and rear?

I ended up buying a set of 900 springs. The fronts are 10.5" free length the rear are 11.25" rates are in the 4-500# range

These are the same springs that are in frankinsaab.

Sorry I'm confused, you mean you didn't buy the off the shelf springs, you bought specific 900 springs? or you bought 900lb/in springs for the front?
