Great to see you made it to the SaabRally site. I have been watching your build on the Turbo Sweden, awesome work on your car.

Yes, very nice! We met you at the Junk yard in Malmo and then again at the Festival. I love that car! Such a great use for a "base model" 99 ;) Have any pictures with your "Fred Beans Saab" plate? That's a local, former Pennsylvania Saab dealership.

That is badass.

Is the rear bumper an early 99 steel bumper, or from something else? It looks like maybe you narrowed it in the middle? Looks really good.

Also in love. The old luggage rack was the inspiration for the one I found for my '80. Love the wheels and fender flares - and where did that spoiler come from?

Its an X7, so the bumpers are original like this, same as the early ones but without the horns. Don't you guys recognize the spoiler? Its the duck tail for the 99cc.

I have the ducktail on my 86 900. They were meant for the 99, and were made for notchbacks, and hatchbacks. Pretty rare at this point.

I painted mine body color, but it looks pretty bad-ass in black on the orange car.

Bumper regs here in the states saw the end to the stainless bumper cars by 72.

Are the rear flares wider than the fronts? Or is that just an optical delusion on my part?

I don't think we even got X7 trim cars in the US in the first place. The 99 was released here specifically as a more up-scale higher end car. Sort of like how we didn't get any 9-5's that don't have 2.3L turbo engines and they all have sunroofs, all 900 Turbos after '85 all had leather interiors and air conditioning, etc.

Here's the only one I have right now:

The ducktail is different for notchback and cc though, and the design for the notchback wasn't my taste, so I modified the cc one. The rear flares are wider, hade to fit 15x8.5

Their offset is 6mm, with 195/50-15 Toyo R1R. Sits like this:

The other wheels (on the first pics) are 15x8 offset 20mm with 195/50-15. Fitted with 15mm spacer in the rear and 26mm in the front.

Awesome!

Only slight thing I'd change is some EMS mirrors in the stock location, though I imagine you've probably had that at some point in the car's life. That's awesome that you are willing to push some boundaries though, I'll bet that is a lot of fun to daily drive.

Mirrors are relocated to get the japan-inspired look. Those are the stock mirrors though for the X7 (same as 96). Its pretty fun, there's some amount of power at wot and high rpm at least.
