Anyone using a mini battery? Thinking about relocating the battery to the drivers side in the '80, and love the thought of a 3" wide Braille or Odyssey racing drycell. Here's a pic of a Braille mounted under the rear seat of a c900. Super clean. Anyone else tried this? I'm thinking about longevity challenges or other factors. Price is obviously a concern too, but batteries are all too expensive at this point anyway.

A friend of mine uses the little ones from Odyssey I believe, and he gets several years out of them at least. And tiny and light.

That little Deka is just what I'm looking for. Nice price too. I've been running a little drycell for about 3 years now that was made to be a trunk-mount add-on for ricers with huge audio setups. I bought it because I was in a pinch and couldn't find any other traditional batteries that fit the space with that huge external wastegate in the way, but it's turned out to be the most reliable battery I've had yet.

I have a shorai in one motorcycle and an antigravity in another. Both are pretty slick but not sure that they offer a model with enough cca for car use

Re: Mini battery?
We got a Lithium Iron battery from a Taiwanese vendor as a sample product. It has something like 800CCA and weighs 7lbs and is pretty tiny. Probably still a little too expensive for the market, I'd guess it would be between $350-500, but I'm sure prices will come down.

Nice! If you need someone to give the sample product a good solid test-run, let me know.
Re: Mini battery?
Would be interested in something like this in my 85. Still keep it in the engine bay, just be smaller and lighter. For a 3 season car that never gets driven in the winter what do you all suppose would be the minimum CCA you'd be comfortable with?

Re: Mini battery?
*Bump*
Any more thoughts on these small batteries?
One of these seems like a cheap way to cut 30 pounds...

Re: Mini battery?
I'm currently running one of these in the 99 http://alienmotion.com/am12.html, but I honestly wouldn't recommend one, and I think I'm going back to a regular battery myself. They're insanely light and tiny, but they're very finicky about being discharged fully, like if you do it once, it's pretty much done for. That said, if you rig up a disconnect of some sort and are very diligent about unplugging it, they're pretty amazing little batteries, under 3lbs, and plenty of cranking power, even in cold weather, I've never had my car not start.
