I posted a thread on facebook about making reproductions similar to what I did with the S&R fender flares. I'm trying to gauge interests and actual people who would buy this unique accessory. So genuine interest for about 12 units at an estimated price of 150 usd each. In hindsight, probably too low, but I needed to put a number out there see if I would get nibbles. I'm thinking more like 200-300 to pay for tooling, time and materials.
I obtained an original from Dan Wing who was a service manager back in the day at Wilson Saab in Bellingham Wa.
Cleaned up pretty well for being +40 years old. I'd use it to make a splash, thus the mold to form parts. Quality materials and processes like the fender flares I had made.
I'd make and bond mounting bracket similar to the originals. Sheet metal weldment with clipnuts for securing to the hatch.
It can be modified to fit a trunk, but it is intended for a hatch. I actually like the hatch version on the trunk vs the trunk spoiler on the trunk.
So my question is " Who on Saabrally would buy one of these at 200-300 usd?"

Looks pretty good on a 99 sedan. I'd take one.

Hi Dennis
Sorry to threadjack but if you are getting creative with carbon fibre I wouldn't mind a set of these made for the 99 / 900.

That just looks like pre made carbon sheet trimmed and screwed in place.

These are seriously cool spoilers, and I always love to pick up one-off pieces like this that are unlikely to surface again. Unfortunately I don't have a 900 to put one on, but I will send this link to someone I know and try to convince them. Good luck with the project!

Re: Ducktail spoiler 99/900 hatch
The spoiler you have is for a cc right? I have a modified cc-spoiler on my sedan, a look that I prefer instead of the original sedan-spoiler where the spoiler sits on top of the lid.
Is the plan to make replicas of the original sedan spoiler or a modified cc-version which fits the sedan (like below)?

Thanks for posting a close up picture of yours.
The plan would be to make spoiler replicas of the cc (hatch) only, just like the originals. If someone wanted to have it fit a trunk (sedan) it would be on them to trim/adjust to fit.

Still thinking of building some of these?

No near term plans to build the tooling. As I was clean up the shop and putting all the layup and vacuum bag material away, I realized how much F-in space this stuff takes up.
