Update:
Been using the last of remaining bits of motivation to get this thing done. A few things have been checked off the list over the past week.

The fuel system was completed:

The engine is all hooked up and oh yeah... it runs!

A nice bracket was made to hold the impact gun securely in the trunk:

The spare tire setup was completed:

A "PIP" pin allows quick release of the strap for easy access. Thanks to Michele "Mo" for sewing the heavy duty nylon webbing strap for me! check out her site at : http://www.moclimbin.com/index.html to see her selection of hand made climbing accessories, she also makes really nice handbags and hats.

very, very nice. I hope it makes it to STPR, I'm looking forward to seeing it (and photographing it)

we should set up a time before it runs so we can do a photoshoot before it gets too dirty.

That would be really sweet if I knew someone with a huge photo studio with a seamless background, so we could get some sweet studio shots.

I hope to just shoot it against a woods background at STPR for an article in GRM...or at the very least, a sidebar to our Saab project.

I am a bit worried about STPR. I believe the car will be ready, but the combination of the entry fee, the need to buy a Hans device, the need to renew Rally America license, the need to pickup some sort of insurance policy (registration and logbook will say '75 for now :) ... but I got dropped from my "historic" policy recently) is going make it difficult :(
Oh and John is not available to co-drive that weekend... argg!

rent to own H&N

Postby fiasco » Wed May 07, 2008 7:08 pm

Only problem with doing the rental Hans and Franz device is that I think they're all those Hutchins or R3 or whatever devices, which I believe will be NO GOOD in Canada next year. They're going to an FIA approved H&N device and that means Hans or nothing at the moment.

So if you were to rent, it wouldn't be rent to own if you have plans north of the border. Also think of the ramifications of possibly needing multiple sets of holes in your skid lid for various restraints.

Sure wish they'd get these horse collars down to $99.95.

Food for thought, anyway. I hope you get the new car out soon, looks very cool.

Have fun at STPR, I'm skipping it this year. Got Baie, maybe Maine, and Defi on my list before kiddo number two arrives in early November. Somehow I doubt I'll make it to Tall Pines.

Yeah, the Leatt brace which I bought for the motorcycle events (think Hans device for bikes) is about $400. Pricey but not to bad when considering the alternative.
