Yep, the hats are aluminum. Almost all coilover hats are. The bump stops are about 80mm long polyurethane foam things that slide over the shock shaft and the springs are from DMS (Originally off a mitsubishi rally car)

I have been taking advantage of the nice weather (and a big ass coal burning stove) to finish the body work on the shell. Its all done, masked off and ready for paint.

I also totally finished the steering column and test fitted the shifter and hand-brake. Temporarily bolted on a rear axle and front knuckles so that I can push in on the trailer to bring to the paint shop.

Lookin' good! You're doing a darkish silver again? I had a hard time wrestling with all that I had to do before paint---I think the only thing I really forgot was some sort of mounting pad for the terraphone. I should have cut the hole in the roof for the vent beforehand as well.

(got the diff cover/panhard/terraphone/etc..thanks!)

Nice! So, your shifter is going to be rather far forward....I set mine in the car the other day to see what it looked like next to the steering wheel. The rear mounting holes of the shifter were sitting on the fron mounting tabs for the OEM shifter/key assembly.

It <looks> right, but I need to get a dash in there and see how close it is.

Digging the e-brake man.

Mike the shifter throw is really small, like 3" or something, so I dont think it will interfer with the dash. Mines not actually mounted that far foward, its in approximatly the same position as the stock shifter.

Why do you mask off the inside of the fender arches like that? Keep the black out of the fender well? You going to put flares on this one too?

exactly, the paper to mask off the wheel wells will be taped there. I don't want my nice white wheel wells to get tons of black over-spray on them! Oh, it was a tough decision, but we decided for classic black with the more unusual swoosh that breaks into a lightning bolt at the tail of the car. With black is easy to get good quality paint for cheap, easy to repair panels, historically correct, and will really allow the swedish stripes to stand-out.

I think it will look great regardless. Are you adding the red turbines too? It will be interesting to see how that swoosh looks on a 2-door.

Yep it will be complete with red turbines. Actually, Max I need you to start working on the drawings of that so I can get some paint masks cut.
