Am I silly to just have a hydraulic jack strapped into the trunk? this thing weighs more than an elephant as it is....

it is silly until you have to use it....then it will be a good thing to have. And I don't that that extra weight is going to cause you to lose the event.

Ya our team just uses a hydraulic jack and jack stands at the service locations. This does make me wonder what we have IN the rally car  .

Well the crew worked some long hard days over the weekend (and some late nights playing Colin McRae dirt) and we made a lot of progress on the car! A lot of small but time consuming tasks on the list were hacked away at.

Hi ! why can´t I see all the great pictures of the fantastic SAAB anymore ?
I was going to show a friend a real saab and it was only big screens with red X in. Is it my computer or ? :( I tried several times.
On the other hand I maybe don´t wanna look at them anymore, they only make my car look like a toy :)

They rearranged the gallery, so I think the links are broken. You can go to the gallery and the 74 EMS album and see the pictures. It is a bitchin car...

A bit more work managed to happen over the last week

The Dash mold was finished:

And a dash was made:

Then painted a nice satin black:
Image

Aluminum inserts were cut. They are held in by 1/4 turn dzus clips for easy access to wiring behind.

Dash installed:
Image

Gauges installed:
Image

Image

A custom steering wheel adapter was made to adapt to the column:

Wiring harness installation started:

Batch of reinforced a-arms started:

These have the lower shock mount eliminated as we don't need them more:

You've got way too much time on your hands! :-) Nice work!

It will be interesting to see how much vibration (noise) you get with the aluminum panels and fiberglass dash.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off :eyebrows:

I bet a bit of weather stripping arouind the edge of the Al panels will quiet vibrations pretty well. Not like you'll hear THAT noise over the other symphony eminating from the engine bay, fender wells and underbody.
