Is anyone interested in trucking a possibly rust-free 99 notchback roller back east from the land of no rust?
I am going tomorrow to check out a farm of classics sitting out by San Diego and I know there are 2 99's, I will know more tomorrow when I can go check it out, but they were re-possessed with mechanic's leins, so there would be probably $450 or so in DMV fees to pay - landlord got quote for ~$300 / car from a scrap yard to have them removed, so I think that's about what he wants for them.
I only have a rough photo, but one is an early, maybe '72 or '73 GL, white, looks like a lot of surface rust, don't know what the other one is yet.
Thought I'd pass this along - see the shots of my AZ shell in my build thread to see how smoothly things can go if you have a good starting point!

Hi Drew,
I'm curious what you found at the farm of classics...
The interest in a rust free roller is here, but the dollars are not.

Unfortunately all the cars were severely over-advertised - they've all been sitting out in a field at least 3 years, mechanical condition unknown.
The only 99 is a '76 GL, and has rust holes clear through the hood - looks like swiss cheese, something I've never seen on a car in Cali.
The guy who owns the property didn't want to take anything off the 99 either, he was still trying to track down the previous owner to see if he wanted to buy it back - bollocks.

That's a pain. You never really know until you look at them if they are worth the trip.

Could have been worse, did end up with some odds and ends that I needed.

Hey Drew,
What the heck is your user icon a picture of? I've been trying to figure it out for a long time. it sort of looks like someone wearing 80's sunglasses inside a helmet but it looks pretty obscure.

My guess is a headlight on some tuner car. A Supra maybe, or an Rx7?

Nope, sorry, no 99 parts around here to speak of. You might try Raffi @ Saab & Raffi in Hollywood, he has more vintage parts than I do, tell him I gave you the #: 323 466 16-eight-zero
About the avatar, maybe this will make it a little clearer? LOL It's from this build album of my '85 900T.
That's my Lesco multi angle valve grind.

Hi Drew
Thread hijack alert ...
Would you know if Raffi would have any front grilles available ?

No idea, would be worth a call - he's got a storage cavern sort of like we have, and he's probably the only one who knows what he has and just where it is, I wouldn't be surprised.
You need a U.S. grill or a Euro one?
He'd probably sell you the one off the car sitting out back if you really hounded him about it, although it's complete now but I can't see anyone but probably me taking the car off his hands anyway, it's this one:
