I flat towed a 900 with another 900 (an 89 900-S) for over 100 miles in the snow. It was no problem what so ever, I could have done it 1000 miles. Once you are up to speed and underway it presents no problem. Tight turns need to be taken slow, as the front of the car in-tow car tries to steer the back of the car you are towing with, especially on snow. I only jacknifed the rig once in the entire 100+ miles of towing, and that was when we were pulling into the driveway of the destination and hit a deep patch of ice. I would not worry too much about towing with this set up in good weather across the entire country.

I flat towed my complete 99 with my 900T with a full spare powerplant and gearbox in the trunk about 150 miles from my mom's in Palm Springs to LA with a very similar setup to Delorean's. Using the factory C900 class 2 tow hitch.

It seemed fine, the weak spot is slowing down. My '85 has the little bitty brakes, a later C900 with vented front rotors should be much better. I also purposely did it in the middle of the night so there would be no traffic on the highways, so I didn't really ever have to slow down or speed up too much.

If no one else is going to get this thing, I might just have to flat-tow it back here to PA with a 900 just to prove that it can be done. :yay:

Dooooo it doooo it dewwwwwwit!

The Uhaul tow dolly are heavy little suckers, they weigh 750 lbs empty, so makes a big difference, plus I was towing an SPG with all the add on junk associated with them with a very simple 8V with manual everything, so was already at a couple hundred pound deficit. With the tow bar you'd be much better off I imagine, especially with the drivetrain removed.... that wouldnt be too bad.

My 78 5 door was used a couple of times for towing motorcycles to events. The Uhaul trailer I rented one time was probably in the 1000 lb range when empty and my bike weighed around 350#. The car struggled on hills but could hit 70mph on the flats. Gas mileage took a severe hit.

Still have this. Never got papers for it, so it's either going to get gutted or one of the LeMons teams I sponsor is going to use it, but so far they are dead in the water.

Free to anyone here if you want to arrange to take it, it's still complete and rolls.

Hope someone can pick this one up.

My buddy just picked up an 85T project car with perfect body (not even a scuff mark on the bumpers), and ZERO rust. West coast cars = All you east coasters have sweet welding skills but if yer lazy like me  or don't weld, come west and tow one home...

My turnoffs inlude surface rust , and seized fasteners, and wheels that have to be pounded off with a mallet.....

You mean you only need a mallet, not a 4x4 oak block to brace across the rim and the 20lb sledge?

It happens on the 9-3's as well, I guess thats not a big surprise, I don't know if its a combination of different types of metals on the hub and wheels or what but it is seriously frustrating. I typically hit the hub with a wire wheel or some low grit sandpaper and douse it with anti-seize compound before putting the new wheels on and it works pretty well. Never once had the issue on a c900 though, knock on wood.

Is that what is commonly referred to as "Galvonic Corrosion"? A generous coat of Never Seize solves that problem. I turn my back to the car and kick it with the bottom of my boot and most of the time it pops right off.
