Maine 2012

Postby Crazyswede » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:33 am

Team Saabrally.com will not be competing in Maine this year due to the car needing some attention after a gearbox failure at STPR...and due to everyone on the team having a hectic summer. We plan to be back for Black River Stages with a surprise.

However, past codriver Geoff Clark will be racing Maine...look for him in the Orange diesel Rabbit. I (Seth Strait) will be codriving for Greg Healy in the Datsun 280Z. Ironically Greg is one of the people we compete against in the Saab.

Ahh too bad, Delorean and I will be up there spectating as usual, not sure what we'll do all night if we aren't changing a gearbox though

For you guys spectating NEFR, this just came out yesterday:
A quick explanation on why Spectating on Saturday is so difficult. Due to new landowner
access we have this year we are taking the road use permission very carefully so as to allow use
in the coming years. NEFR needs more than the wonderful Seven Islands Land Company to be
able to put on a varying program and with their considerable assistance two new landowners
stepped up to fill the gap this year.
We are taking every step possible to make sure we respect these new landowners’ property and
know that Spectator areas in these locations could cause us to have many problems. There are
road access and parking concerns. If we are able to use these roads in the future, then we will
have time to work with the landowners to identify and plan spectator areas and as well as access.
Other than Buses leaving from Sunday River on Saturday morning there will be no spectating on
these forest roads. Please let your friends know the problem and help us respect our new land
owner’s wishes.

We expect that we will be enjoying Fish Pond Road again next year and that will allow once again
for the fabulous spectator location on this road.

Also spectator info in the spectator guide (featuring a picture of Luke & Seth)

Where's the 900? I don't see it listed on the start order.

They had a transmission failure (in the parking lot so I hear) so they were swapping that yesterday and entering in today's regional event. They should be running as we speak (write). :)

No, a 900 with a trans problem? Can't be!

On a side note, I just got done swapping the trans in my SPG, which has been off the road since 07 due to a failed transmission. Need to get it inspected, and we'll see how many weeks it lasts

Congrats to CrazySwede on the second place o/a on Sat. and G5 win.
Was the Z car fun to ride in? I heard he's retiring it after this year since it has about 30 rallies on it (still looks good in pics).

thanks. we won grp 5 both days but were 12th overall on friday due to another competitor who had 2 flats and kept going...thus kicking up so much dust that we actually had to stop 4 times in order for the dust to clear....so that cost us 2 minutes.

we came in 2nd for dmack challenge and won 600 dollars. The 280Z is a fantastic car to ride in. greg is a very smooth driver and the is a rocket. i made more than one call looking out my side window at the upcoming corner. fit was a bit tight for me. lots of bumping helmets on roll cage tubing.

SS6 in Maine in the 280Z:

I was suffering from a bit of heat exhaustion and dehydration that had sort of crept up on me and I got lost in the notes for a while in the middle.
