Re: 89T Daily Beater Project
Nice! You know the only reason I have ever gotten rid of spare cats is because the mounting brackets were rusted off. Never really considered repairing them - great idea. You could always modify them to attach with a slip joint and clamp. Just weld a length of pipe to the ends, and expand them to s...

Flanges were rusted beyond usefulness... so I found some good ones and performed a little surgery.
Not pictured, but I also added an 1/8 x 1 strip of steel along the bottom to act as a skid plate of sorts to protect the cat when it contacts pavement.

Re: 86 900 Street / Track Project
I spoke too soon... On my last run on Saturday @ the Weatherly Hillclimb, I shattered a lifter, and took out the cam carrier. The cam got marked up a bit, but should be ok to reuse. I have to get ahold of Jack Lawrence to see if he has any more of the hardened lifters lying around. I found a replace...

Re: 89T Daily Beater Project
Made some more progress on the beater. Still repairing the rust. Finally tackled the rusty front passenger side fender lip. I cut the arch out of a rear quarter section that I had floating around. Trimmed out the crunchy bits, and welded in the arch, and used some sheet metal to finish out the inner...

Re: Axle issues.
in order to measure the axle, you have to take the tripod, and the outer out...
I believe you can also measure the difference at the recess where the boot clamp rides, but it wont be as accurate.

Re: Axle issues.
I think you need to find the axles off the later vented brake 900s. The axles are longer than their earlier counterparts. The 87 vented brake hubs have a different offset, and require a different axle. IIRC, that car was wrecked pretty hard at one (or more than one) point in time. It could be possib...

Re: Some PHA photos from the last events
Yep... I shattered one of the MSS hardened lifters, and it took out the cam cradle, and marred the cam up a little. I think I should be able to replace the cradle, and lifter. Hoping to dress the cam with some fine emery cloth.
