May be good for parts. Looks fairly solid. Not mine. No affiliation. Blah, blah, blah... Just trying to pass along an interesting ad...

i'm not sure what they mean with the gasket match rule. I would assume that 1/2" is the max depth you can cut into the manifold in the direction of the runner.. I think gasket match means that you can trim the gasket material so it does not impede airflow. In a sense, you can port match the ga...

Re: Intermittent vibes...
You could pull one driver off and remove the driver from its aluminum housing and then mount the housing back on the transmission as this is what supports the bearing on the diff. Then you can pull the other side, swap drivers side to side and reassemble...this is assuming that someone has not alre...

Re: Intermittent vibes...
There is a good chance it's the passenger side inner tripod bearing coming apart. Pull back the boot and have a look. I an hear an occasional clicking from the pass side. I wonder how likely it is that I'll also need the cup in addition to the universal joint? The factory manual does not suggest ta...

Re: Intermittent vibes...
Makes sense to me that it's the inner shaft joints. I've seen a replacement procedure for them. Seem to recall you have to replac one at a time lest something in the trans comes apart. I'll get to it soon. Wifey loves driving the car. Shame she cannot hit the highway comfortably.
Thanks,
Bill

My wife's 1991 900S convertible gets a pretty good shake going at highway speeds...but not all the time. Sometimes it is smooth as silk up to 70. Sometimes it's like a paint shaker at 60. No apparent rhyme or reason to it. Strictly road speed related. RPMs are not a factor. I have some thoughts that...

Re: Craigslist / Fleabay / Blocket.se / Kijiji / Thread
What year is the one you are looking at? 2004. 140 hi-roof passenger van. There doesn't appear to be any rust aside from one small patch. Totally tolerable. The owner seems like a stand-up guy. Ran a CarFax and everything is consistent with what he is saying. So, I feel good about it, but still...i...

Re: Craigslist / Fleabay / Blocket.se / Kijiji / Thread
There was a little more rust in the rear passenger side which combined with the rear drivers side makes me think there is a leak back there and could be hiding some more rust. I seem to recall that they use sand or ash on the roads in SE PA, rather than salt. Is that true? I ask b/c I am thinking i...

Re: Finding good quality rebuilds
Rebuilding it gets my vote. I rebuilt calipers myself many, many times. It is fairly simple on a single-piston caliper. Remove the caliper, remove the brake line, and use compressed air to blow out the piston. Be careful. It will come our with a bang. Do not try to hold the piston back with your fin...

Wanted: Trans Mount Bracket for 1991 900
The trans mount bracket on my wife's 91 900 is cracked. I was thinking about welding it up, but it was suggested that somebody here might have one to sell. Anybody? Bueller? See the pictures below for more clear idea of what I'm looking for. TIA, bb http://billybee.smugmug.com/photos/i-jxkTv9N/0/L/i...

Trans mount bracket NLA?
Hi guys: The trans mount bracket is broken in my wife's 1991 900 Convertible. See below. I tried to order a new one from thesaabsite and they say it is no longer available. So,I plan to weld it back together. I think it is too small to gusset or plate it. Any other suggestions as to where to buy a n...
